"And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful." (TITUS 3:14)
We all have projects hanging over us that need to be tackled. At Entheos, instead of doing these jobs alone and on our own, we encourage our members to work together with one another. In the spirit of the old fashioned barn raising, we do yard work, spring cleaning, painting, preparing and planting a garden, remodeling a room, small building projects, landscaping, moving parties, and etc.. It can all be accomplished much faster together.
All ages can learn valuable work/trade skills and make a few new friends while getting the work done. Our more experienced handymen and gardeners are put in charge in order to make sure things get done right. Quality control is important.
Work parties should be roughly 2/3 “work” and 1/3 "party." A good recipe for a work party is a reasonable size job (i.e. 3 to 6 hours of hard but safe work. No roofing or electrical work, please!), Provide a great lunch for the crew. Have a cookout during the brunch, lunch or dinner break, or after the work is completed. Make time to make some music. Have fun. If time allows, enjoy some family-inclusive recreation as well (volley ball, basket ball, ping-pong, etc.). The goal is to get the work done, without wearing everyone out. Run the party in such a way that everyone will be eager to pitch in for the next one.
One of the principles of the Christian life is to bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ to love one another. This means our needs are other’s opportunities to obey Christ. Their needs provide our opportunities. So, don’t be shy about letting others know what you are working on and how we can help.
To schedule a "work party'' for any Entheos member in need of help, our members have only to call one of our Deacons.
Contact us no later than three weeks prior to your desired date so that your event can be listed in our Sunday Bulletin and on our Church Calendar at www.entheoschurch.org.
